Shagun Singh is an M.B.A. who worked with MNCs including Guthy-Renker, Fitness First, DTZ Debenham Tie Leung, in senior leadership management for a decade, before starting her social entrepreneurial journey.
Realising the need for sustained ecological effort at grassroots level, she founded the Geeli Mitti Centre of Excellence (CoE), a social enterprise based in the remote rural Himalayan mountains, that is carrying out pioneering research and training in the field of sustainable living and ecological housing solutions.
Shagun is a highly sought-after consultant for government and private projects for small and large scale interventions for water and infrastructure development. She leads and mentors teams of professionals, engineers, architects and students through understanding permaculture systems, natural material buildings and research, all while contributing actively towards multiple rural community livelihood initiatives through the Geeli Mitti Foundation. Her workshops and training sessions marry traditional wisdom with modern technological advances to promote a better cohesive environmentally-friendly way of living. She established the Geeli Mitti Learning Centre to offer certified courses on permaculture, ecological architecture, solar passive design, energy, water and waste management systems. She is an internationally certified Permaculture Designer and a Train the Trainer for perma-culturists.
Shagun has also been recognised by VOGUE as one of the 12 leading women in India for environment and climate change.
She writes a dedicated weekly column on Sustainable Living solutions in the Dainik Jagran newspaper, the largest selling daily in India. She is often invited as a Guest Speaker and Teacher at colleges and government forums across the country including the Central Public Works Departments.
