Wedad Almarzooqi currently serves as Head of Sustainability at Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank, she holds more than 11 years of experience between the aviation and banking sectors. She started her career in the finance division of Etihad Airways post graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Finance and Banking from Monash university. She was then seconded to Switzerland where she overlooked the financial operations of the station. Upon her return to Abu Dhabi in 2017, she took roles in Group Support Services, Procurement and Corporate Strategy with a portfolio of corporate performance, enterprise risk, transformation, and strategic projects. Setting up the company vision on sustainability was a core element of her responsibility and leading a strategic project which was launched in late 2022 on Corporate Conscious Choices. She served as a member of the Executive Sustainability Committee, and the Group Sustainability Working Group in Etihad.

In her current role, she plays a key role in setting the Bank’s sustainability strategy and mobilising ESG initiatives across the various functions. She also leads the ESG training and awareness agenda for the Bank, and is responsible for forging external collaborations with various entities, including offering advisory services on the Bank’s ESG products. She sits on the Group Sustainability Committee of ADCB, and the Social Responsibility Committee of Abu Dhabi, representing the Bank.

Wedad is also part of the ADQ Game Changers program; a leadership program designed for future leaders that was established by H.E. Mohamed Al Suwaidi, CEO of ADQ in 2021, in collaboration with London Business School. And through the end of 2023, completed a Sustainable Finance certificate with Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership.

On a personal note, she is passionate about discovering the world in her free time, and empowering next generation Emirati women in pursuing their aspirations.”
