Suleimenova is a visionary visual artist who utilizes cutting-edge techniques and materials, including recycled plastic, cellophane, and polycarbonate. In her recent bold exhibition, she created striking collages from plastic bags and innovative cellophane paintings, using plastic bags adhered to polycarbonate sheets. Through her work, Saule seeks to reconcile traditional Kazakh culture with a spirit of modern rebellion, employing contemporary artistic methods. Her artistic language draws from the rich heritage of archaic Kazakh traditions, where every gesture serves as a sacred ritual connecting the earthly realm to the spiritual. By exploring the poetics of everyday life, she captures a sense of timelessness. Suleimenova's art has made a profound social impact in Kazakhstan, where she actively engages in educational and environmental initiatives. For instance, she encourages community members to donate plastic bags for her artwork, raising awareness about the pervasive issue of plastic pollution. This waste can linger in the environment for decades, with thousands of tons of non-biodegradable garbage accumulating across the vast Kazakh steppe. Her innovative use of materials invites viewers to reconsider the purpose of polycarbonate and cellophane, challenging the perception that these items are only relevant in the production of CDs, DVDs, mobile devices, or food packaging.

I was born in Cuenca, Ecuador: “city of artists.” Some even call it “the Athens of Ecuador,” meaning I grew up in an environment that was not only filled with art, but in an environment of astounding natural beauty. It was here that my love for nature and for our creator, who I believe is the greatest artist of all time, was born. I was always an artist, but it took me some time to come to terms with the direction that my life would take. I felt a tension, as many artists do, between my head and my heart. I felt I needed to pay more attention to my emotions than my responsibilities, or the words and opinions of others. Over time, I searched within myself to find my passion, and have been lucky enough to transform it into my profession. For me, to create is to live. I cannot find any other way of living that is not through art. I view the creation of material works as an extension of what I feel and what I think. In a way, my creations are an extension of who I am. But most importantly, my artistic practice is an extension of what I believe. It allows me to show the world the gift given to me by the One who guides my path and who decides my destiny. I am proud and humbled that my destiny was to become an artist, and I’m honored to share my work with the world.

Rami Kadi is the Founder and Creative Director of Maison Rami Kadi. At the early age of 25, Rami started paving his professional designer career with the launch of his showroom and opening of his first atelier in the heart of Beirut: a home for him to create and show the world his Couture creations. Thread by thread, from that showroom, Rami Kadi wove together unique evening dresses and bridal couture dresses whose impeccable reputation attracted a growing base of international clientele including royalty. Through his collections, he pays tribute to “hand-made” work, the art he is particularly fond of. Rami Kadi's weak eyesight was never an obstacle, as Rami feels his fabrics and envisions them in his mind differently: “Sometimes, though, I remove my glasses and try to figure out what a fabric or detail is, and imagine it differently,” he says. To him, a pixelated vision, and an intriguing shimmer are the triggers for his love for shine. From his base of operations in Lebanon, Rami Kadi spread his passion for modern tailoring across the world, growing his couture house to become a present entity in the most exclusive top-tier events while maintaining its pioneering spirit of innovation in fashion and technology. Rami’s strong commitment to environmental causes within the field of sustainable fashion lies at the core of his work. In September 2020, Rami Kadi was designated the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) Regional Goodwill Ambassador for Sustainable Fashion in West Asia.

Marcel is a Horticultural Engineer. In the 1990s and 2000s, he worked in the Advisory Service of Horticulture in the Netherlands and abroad. He started in fruit cultivation but was also active in all types of glasshouse crops, including fruit, vegetables, pot plants, and cut flowers. In 2007, he founded Agrozone, a company active in the agriculture and food sectors, specializing in ozone and electrolyzed water applications. Between 2007 and 2010, Marcel was one of the pioneers in indoor farming. At that time, it was widely believed by scientists that growing plants indoors under purple light was not possible. However, Marcel was convinced that the LED technology available at that time was good enough to replace sunlight. He also understood that light was not the only limiting factor in growing plants entirely indoors without using natural sunlight. Marcel's motto is: "Science is never settled." Convinced of the opportunities presented by his understanding of plant growth, he and his colleagues succeeded in proving the contrary. From the beginning, Marcel was fully convinced of the potential this innovation would bring to the world. In 2010, he founded Plantlab and began his journey in developing indoor farming applications. For nearly a decade, he worked with breeding companies and those seeking flavors, fragrances, and other plant-derived compounds through various exclusive global collaborations. These efforts helped Plantlab grow into what it is today, expanding their knowledge and expertise in indoor farming opportunities. Their research has resulted in a wide portfolio of applications. The first broad indoor farming patent dates back to 2008, even before indoor farming became a practical reality. From the start, Marcel’s larger goal has been to make a significant impact on food security and beyond with this new technology. Indoor farming brings entirely new opportunities to the world, which need to be explored and developed by many experts working together. This process, now being adopted on a large scale, will continue to be implemented in the coming years. After starting productions in the Bahamas, the U.S., and the Netherlands, Marcel is now focusing on different applications in the Middle East that align with the strategies and goals of the countries in the region. He is searching for the right applications, including hybrid solutions where indoor farming is part of a comprehensive, and even necessary, solution. This is what drives him. Marcel strives to work with the right people and entities to make the impact needed to achieve these goals. Combining high-tech solutions with the challenge of regreening is his primary focus. In addition to his role on the Board of Directors at Plantlab, Marcel is always the innovative accelerator of new opportunities, striving to connect different important combinations and opportunities. For that, he believes, the right people and entities with the same drive are essential.
