He obtained his Ph.D. from Washington State University (WSU), where he completed his post-doctoral fellowship in School of Molecular Biosciences at WSU. Currently serving as the Deputy Executive Director of the Research Centre at King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre (KFSHRC), Dr. Assiri has been a driving force behind numerous groundbreaking initiatives. He has been instrumental in establishing the Transplant Research and Innovation Department, which has become a cornerstone for cutting-edge research in organ transplantation research and innovation. Under his leadership, KFSHRC achieved a significant milestone by becoming the first institution in Saudi Arabia to produce a genetically altered mouse model using CRISPR-Cas9 technology addressing human infertility issue. Dr. Assiri’s expertise extends beyond the laboratory. He is a crucial figure in several national and international committees, including as ex-Vice Chair of the National Committee of Bioethics at King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology. His contributions to science have been recognized with numerous accolades, and he has co-founded multiple research groups focused on advancing knowledge in male and female infertility, fertility preservation, and surgical innovation. In addition to his research and administrative duties, Dr. Assiri is a dedicated educator, holding an adjunct faculty position at Alfaisal University, where he co-founded the Clinical Embryology and Reproductive Biology Master’s program.
