Dr. Hatem Moussa is a leading American board-certified general and robotic surgeon and
the Chief of the Robotic Surgery Center of Excellence at American Hospital Dubai. With
more than 20 years of surgical experience across the United States and the Middle East, he
is recognized for pioneering advanced minimally invasive and robotic techniques that
elevate surgical outcomes, patient safety, and international standards of care.
Dr. Moussa also serves as Chief of Trauma and Acute Care Surgery and Director of General
and Oncology Surgery at American Hospital Dubai. A certified Robotic Surgical Proctor and
national trainer for the Da Vinci Surgical System, he has trained surgeons globally and
played a key role in expanding robotic surgery as a cornerstone of modern medical care
and medical tourism excellence in the region.
His extensive clinical portfolio includes complex gastrointestinal, colorectal, hepatobiliary,
endocrine, breast, and abdominal wall reconstruction surgeries, with a particular focus on
robotic-assisted colorectal and foregut procedures. Prior to his leadership roles in Dubai,
Dr. Moussa practiced for over a decade in the United States and held academic
appointments at SUNY Downstate Medical Center in New York.
A Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, Dr. Moussa is widely regarded for his
commitment to innovation, patient-centered care, and advancing surgical standards
across international healthcare systems.
