Dr. Mazin Rasool Aljabiri

When Dr. Mazin Rasool Aljabiri arrived in the United Arab Emirates in 2011, advanced interventional gastroenterology was still in its early stages. Over the past decade, he has helped transform the specialty, contributing to the UAE’s emergence as a regional leader in advanced digestive healthcare through innovation, education, and minimally invasive treatment.

A British-trained Consultant Gastroenterologist, Interventional Endoscopist, and Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (London), Dr. Aljabiri is Head of Gastroenterology and Digestive Diseases at Mediclinic Parkview Hospital and an Honorary Clinical Assistant Professor at Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences (MBRU). Throughout his career, he has remained committed to a single vision: bringing world-class digestive healthcare to patients in the UAE while developing sustainable centres of excellence that combine clinical expertise, education, research, and innovation.

Under his leadership, Mediclinic Parkview Hospital has evolved into one of the region’s leading centres for advanced therapeutic endoscopy and achieved international recognition as an Endoscopy Centre of Excellence. He has led the introduction of numerous advanced endoscopic procedures in the UAE, including SpyGlass™️ cholangioscopy, advanced ERCP, endoscopic bariatric therapies, and minimally invasive treatments for gastro-oesophageal reflux disease and early gastrointestinal cancers, allowing many patients to avoid major surgery and overseas referral.

Recognising the transformative potential of artificial intelligence, Dr. Aljabiri also led the implementation of AI-assisted colonoscopy within Mediclinic, contributing to one of the UAE’s first comparative studies demonstrating improved adenoma detection rates through AI-supported endoscopy. His work reflects a belief that technology should enhance, not replace, clinical judgement, enabling safer, more precise, and more personalised patient care.

Over the course of his career, Dr. Aljabiri has performed more than 70,000 diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures, including advanced ERCP, endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR), endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD), complex polypectomy, haemostasis, and pancreatobiliary interventions. He is widely recognised for combining technical excellence with meticulous clinical judgement and compassionate, patient-centred care.

Before relocating to the UAE, Dr. Aljabiri completed specialist gastroenterology training within the UK’s North East London Deanery, training at internationally renowned institutions including University College London Hospitals, The Royal Free Hospital, Barts and The London, and Basildon University Hospital. His academic contributions include peer-reviewed publications, international presentations, and ongoing involvement in postgraduate medical education.

Beyond clinical practice, Dr. Aljabiri has become a recognised leader in advancing gastroenterology across the Middle East. As a member of the executive leadership of the Emirates Digestive Disease Group and CEO of Emirates Digestive Disease Week (EDDW), he has helped establish one of the region’s leading educational platforms, bringing together internationally renowned faculty, cutting-edge innovation, and multidisciplinary training to elevate standards of digestive healthcare.

His contributions to medicine have been recognised through numerous national and international appointments, including his recognition as Elite Gastroenterologist of the Year 2026. However, Dr. Aljabiri believes that his greatest achievement is not the number of procedures performed or technologies introduced, but the lasting systems, teams, and future leaders he has helped build.

Looking ahead, his ambition is to position the UAE among the world’s leading destinations for advanced digestive healthcare by integrating precision medicine, artificial intelligence, minimally invasive therapies, and world-class education into everyday clinical practice.
