Dr.Miniya Chatterji is the CEO of Sustain Labs Paris, with operations across Europe, MENA, and Asia.
Sustain Labs Paris builds large innovative ventures for catalysing sustainable economic growth at scale
and is known as the world’s largest venture builder focused on climate action. In the UAE, under Dr.
Chatterji’s leadership, Sustain Labs Paris works with the Dubai World Trade Centre, Dubai Economy and
Tourism, ADNOC, amongst others as clients.
Dr. Chatterji was Chief Sustainability Officer of the USD 5 billion Jindal Steel & Power group of
companies 2014 - 2017. Prior to that she was in the senior leadership of the World Economic Forum
2011-2014 in Geneva where she managed the WEF’s Young Global Leaders Community across the
Middle East, North Africa, and South Asia.
Before that, Dr. Chatterji was managing a Euro 200 million hedge fund Louvre Gestation (later acquired
by HSBC) in Paris for a few years, after a stint at JP Morgan’s hedge funds business in Paris as well.
Dr. Chatterji started her career in finance at Goldman Sachs in 2006 in London.
Earlier, between 2003 - 2006, she worked as policy analyst to the President of France Jacques Chirac.
Dr. Chatterji is a Jury Member for the Million Dollar Global Teacher Prize by the Varkey Foundation and
for The Circulars award that is given away each year at Davos. She is also Adjunct Professor at Sciences
Po Paris, where she teaches since 2016. Dr. Chatterji is on the Steering Group for Sustainability United
Nations Global Compact India, and the World Steel Sustainability Expert Group. She is also a member of
100 Women in Hedge Funds and a member of the parliament of Francophone writers. She is a columnist
for The Indian Express and The Pioneer newspapers. Indian Instincts - essays on freedom and equality in
India was Dr. Chatterji’s first book, published by Penguin Random House in 2018. It is in its 2nd edition,
and translated in Bengali and French languages.Dr. Chatterji was welcomed by President Bill Clinton in New York as a commitment maker for
establishing 10 climate focused university institutions globally supported by the Clinton Global Initiative.
In 2024, she was on the cover of UAE’s Gulf News Friday Magazine for her contribution to sustainable
economic growth. In 2019 she was awarded ‘India’s most influential business leaders of the year under 40
years of age ‘by Business World. In 2018 she was bestowed the award of ‘Most influential Sustainability
leader in India’ at the India Sustainability Leadership Summit and Awards. In 2016 Dr. Chatterji was
awarded by the Navoothan Foundation for her personal social commitment. She has also been awarded
the prestigious CSR India award 2016 for corporate social responsibility. In the same year, Dr. Chatterji
and her contribution to the field of sustainability was the cover story of Business World Asia.
Dr. Chatterji has a PhD from Sciences Po Paris. During her PhD, she was a research fellow at Columbia
University and Harvard University. She is a Global Leadership Fellow alumna of the World Economic
Forum.
