Dr. Nahed Balalaa graduated from Dubai Medical College and earned the Arab Board of General Surgery specialization as well as the MRCS from Glasgow, UK. She also holds the European Board of Breast Surgery from Belgium, with over 15 years of experience in the field.
She has extensive leadership experience in both education and clinical practice, actively engaging in teaching, course design, and research. Her contributions include distinguished publications and the organization of multiple scientific conferences. Clinically, her practice is dedicated to providing comprehensive and compassionate care for women with breast disease and breast cancer.
Dr. Balalaa currently serves as Head of Breast Services and Lead Physician for breast cancer awareness campaigns, regularly participating in workshops and public health initiatives. She is a member of several local and international committees, Chair of the Breast Multidisciplinary Board, Site Director for the General Surgery Residency Training Program, and Adjunct Professor of General Surgery at both Gulf Medical University in Ajman and UAE University in Al Ain.
She is a member of general surgery exmination committee by national institute for health specialities and an examiner in general surgery compreshenisve clinical examination for Emirati board.
Her work has been recognized with numerous awards at both administrative and professional levels. She received the Emirates Women Award (Professional Category) from His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum during the Dubai Quality Group’s Annual Award Ceremony in 2025. Awarded by HH Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al-Nahyan as The Breast Surgeon of the Year - Annual Health Awards 2025, UAE– honoring innovation and excellence in healthcare (Merit for exceptional standard of service, innovation and leadership in the health sector).
Dr. Balalaa hold executive master in health care adminstration (EMHCA) from Zayed univercity with high distiction as well as certificate in the art of negotiation, influence and effective communiation from Anwar Gargash Diplomaic Academy.
Currently, Dr. Balalaa is a Senior Consultant Breast Surgeon at Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City (SSMC) in Abu Dhabi.
