Dr. Tarek Moharram is the former CEO of Nile Scan & Labs, the leading, fastest growing regional diagnostics platform in the MEA region, He is a graduate with double majors, holding a MBBCH Medicine & Surgery from Cairo University as well as a Bachelor's degree in Political Economy and Management from the American University in Cairo (AUC). He successfully completed his Master's in Neuroimaging from the University of Edinburgh and is currently pursuing his PhD in Cancer Imaging at Imperial College London. This is in addition to executive education also from Imperial College London in the fields of Finance and Private Equity. Dr. Tarek started his career at Nile Scan & Labs in 2008. During his tenure as CEO, Nile Scan & Labs' revenue grew by a 7-year CAGR of 40%. Between 2016 and 2019, the company's total capital investments amounted to USD60mn. By the time he led the diagnostics company’s exit, it had become a market share leader in oncology diagnostics and was valued at 5.7x its initial valuation before he assumed management. Being both a medical industry expert as well as a seasoned investment professional, Dr. Tarek currently leads Elevate Capital in his capacity as CEO, managing new investments, M&As, and as well as guiding the holding company’s executive team. The firm is currently fundraising for the USD380mn Elevate Healthcare Fund –– the largest healthcare fund in North and Sub-Saharan Africa –– seeking to invest in hospitals, diagnostics, primary healthcare services, and private medical insurance companies
