H.E. Dr. Nawal Alhosany has served as the UAE’s Permanent Representative to the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) since April 2018, supporting international cooperation to accelerate a just and inclusive global energy transition.
Previously, she served as Executive Director of Sustainability at Masdar and as Director of the Zayed Future Energy Prize, now the Zayed Sustainability Prize, from 2011 to 2018. She remains a member of the Prize’s jury. Dr. Alhosany also served as Deputy Director General of the Emirates Diplomatic Academy.
In 2015, she played an instrumental role in launching the UAE-led Women in Sustainability, Environment and Renewable Energy (WiSER) initiative. She holds a PhD from Newcastle University and a degree in engineering from UAE University
