Joy Allen, PhD, MT-BC is a clinician, researcher, and educator whose work sits at the intersection of music, neuroscience, and health innovation. A leading voice in psychological health, pain management, and trauma-informed care, she has presented at regional, national, and international music therapy and music-and-health conferences. Dr. Allen is the editor of Guidelines for Music Therapy: Adult Medical Care and author of seminal chapters on adult oncology, pain, trauma-informed care, and medical music therapy. As Chair of Music Therapy and Founding Director of the Music & Health Institute at Berklee College of Music, she is advancing a global vision for integrating evidence-based music interventions into healthcare. She oversees cutting-edge training programs, a world-class research repository, and Berklee’s Music & Health Innovation Studio, a unique translational space designed to incubate and accelerate music-informed, neuroscience-driven solutions to some of the world’s most pressing health challenges.
