Luma Makari is the co-founder and CEO of Elggo, an AI-powered mental health platform dedicated to enhancing well-being in K-12 schools across the MENA region. With a mission to provide equitable access to evidence-based mental health education, Elggo aims to integrate into school systems to equip youth with essential social, emotional, and academic skills. Luma also served as a guest lecturer for The New School and Parsons School of Design’s Global Mental Health course, where she guides students in developing digital mental health solutions for deployment in underserved regions worldwide. Previously, Luma spearheaded Elgorithm's Digital Livelihoods Program in Lebanon, where she established digital labs within refugee camps and connected over 5,000 vetted coders with remote job opportunities. Her humanitarian efforts extend to Lebanon's crisis response, coordinating aid for 4,500 individuals following the Beirut explosion, including securing vital medical equipment for vulnerable children. Recognized for her impact, Luma has been honored as a Forbes 30 under 30 honoree, and Young Innovators in Behavioral Health awardee.
