Omar El Hamamsy is the Group CEO of Orascom Development Holding (ODH), which creates destinations and builds vibrant communities in Europe, the Middle East and Africa that are soulful places inspiring people to find better ways to live, work and play. He is also the CEO of Orascom Development Egypt, ODH’s largest subsidiary, and a member of its Board of Directors. Since becoming Group CEO of ODH in 2020, El Hamamsy has led the company’s strategic and cultural transformation to build a preeminent, multinational master developer of integrated destinations powered by an ambitious and resourceful team. Under El Hamamsy’s leadership, the company has adopted a new vision: to be the international benchmark for developing successful, integrated destinations. El Hamamsy joined ODH from McKinsey & Company, where he was a Senior Partner in the Middle East office and was previously in the Belgium office. In his 18 years at McKinsey, he led several practices and worked with clients across many sectors to support them on topics ranging from strategy, organization, sales and marketing, operations, and finance. He was primarily responsible for leading comprehensive transformations of multinational companies in the Middle East and Europe. He also worked on several cross-border acquisitions and integrations for these companies. Before joining McKinsey, El Hamamsy worked at AT&T’s Bell Labs in the US for six years, where he managed a global engineering team for wireless product development. El Hamamsy is a member of the regional Board of Directors of “Injaz Al-Arab” and a member of Junior Achievements Worldwide, a non-profit organization focused on youth education. El Hamamsy holds a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University. He is an avid pilot in his free time.
