Ousama Alhaj is Boehringer Ingelheim’s General Manager and Head of Human Pharma for the Near East and UAE. With a successful track record in leading business operations, setting innovative patient-centric strategies, and establishing relationships with authorities, Ousama is an expert in the multinational pharmaceutical industry, having proved himself as a transformational leader across the Gulf and Levant countries. In his current capacity, Ousama is focused on driving success through the implementation of effective financial performance, advanced stakeholder engagements, and innovative frontline execution that will help Boehringer Ingelheim continue serving the needs of patients, customers and stakeholders across the region. With over two decades of experience in the pharmaceutical field, Ousama has held various leadership positions in the Gulf and Levant regions. Prior to assuming his role at Boehringer Ingelheim in June 2020, he served as AstraZeneca’s Country Director for UAE, Bahrain, Oman and Qatar after leading sales and marketing as Area Director for Lebanon, Iraq, Syria and Yemen. During his tenure, he successfully contributed to the company’s substantial growth in the Gulf and Levant markets and leveraged the company’s footprint in the region. He also served as GSK’s Head of Pharma in the UAE. Ousama holds a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree from Damascus University Syria, and an Executive Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Ecole Superieure des Affaires (ESA) Business School in Beirut, Lebanon.
