As the first Saudi woman to anchor the main news bulletin at Saudi Arabia's leading National TV Station (Saudi TV), she has become a symbol of progress for female journalists in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Born in Morocco, raised in Jeddah and studied in Lebanon, Weam’s multicultural upbringing and education have shaped her into a well-rounded professional.
She holds a bachelor's degree in journalism from the Lebanese American University and has further honed her expertise through a diploma in Gender in Development and Humanitarian Assistance from the Institute for Women's Studies in the Arab World in Beirut. Weam's career path has been marked by a series of notable positions, both in reporting and management.
In 2018, she made headlines globally for her role as the first Saudi female anchor to present the main news bulletin on Saudi TV. Additionally, Weam was entrusted with the responsibilities of Operations Manager of Saudi Television and later became the Managing Director of the Documentary Film Centre in the Saudi Broadcasting Authority (SBA) in 2020.
