As the Director of Health Safety and Environment (HSE) for King Abdullah University of Science and Technology, Erik Talley is responsible for all aspects of HSE in the university and community, including emergency preparedness and response, fire department, hazardous material management, traffic safety, laboratory safety, health and safety, and environmental protection. Erik has 30 years of experience in the HSE profession and previously held positions as the Director of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) for Cornell University’s Weill Medical College position and Vice President of EHS for Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center where he had extensive experience planning for and responding to crisis situations, including hurricanes, power outages, fires, pandemics and hazardous material incidents. Erik is a Fellow of the American Chemical Society (ACS) and the Division of Chemical Health & Safety and has worked extensively with the ACS and other organizations on safety culture.
