With over 20 years’ experience as an Architect in the industry, since relocating to the Middle East
in 2006, he has been instrumental in shaping the region's architectural design, he has
established himself as a prominent design architect in the region, earning recognition for his
outstanding portfolio and innovative approach. His designs have been praised for their excellence and innovation, earning him several
prestigious awards, including the “Young Architect of the Year” title at the Middle East Architect
Awards in 2010, and the Cityscape Global Award in 2011 for the Diplomatic Quarter Celebration
Hall. Ignacio has also been recognized for his work on the Red Sea Riviera Master Plan, which
was named Best Residential Project of the Year at the Middle East Architect Awards in 2010. Best
Hospitality project for The Chedi Khorfakkan at the Middle East Architect Awards 2012 and
Architect of the Year 2019 at Design Middle East Awards. Following to this is another award for
Architect of the Year at the Architecture Leaders Awards 2022.
As Aedas' Global Design Principal and in his previous role, Ignacio led the design direction for
diverse projects in the region, including Master Planning, Hotel, Leisure, Residential, Cultural,
and Transport Projects.
He is also a well-respected member of the architecture community, frequently invited to be a
guest critic at the School of Architecture & Design of the American University of Sharjah, UAE,
and a speaker at numerous conferences in the MENA region such as the World Architecture
Congress in Dubai, Architectural Design Days in Riyadh, and DesignMENA summit in Dubai.
