Islam is the Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Paymob. While earning his B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering at the American University in Cairo (AUC), Islam co-founded Paymob in 2015 as a payments facilitator to fill the gap in digital payments in Egypt. He has led the transformation of the company from startup to scaleup. Today Paymob processes millions of transactions worth billions of dollars annually. Islam's vision to build the infrastructure that powers the digital economy guides the company as it expands across the MENAP region and beyond. Under Islam's leadership, Paymob secured a total investment of $90 million from regional and global investors including PayPal Ventures, Kora Capital, Clay Point Capital, EBRD, Endeavor Catalyst, Global Ventures, FMO, A15, British International Investment, Helios Digital Ventures and Nclude. Islam is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center (TIEC) and is passionate about building innovative, enterprise technologies that drive financial inclusion in the MENA region. Islam was recognized by Forbes Middle East as a 30 Under 30 in 2021.
