Professor Bruno Ribeiro do Couto brings over two decades of academic and clinical expertise in understanding how the human brain learns, adapts and thrives. Doctor in Psychology from the University of Valencia, he also completed postdoctoral research at the Institute of Molecular Biology of the University of Porto and the Prince Felipe Research Centre in Valencia.
Currently, he is a Professor at the University of Murcia, where he teaches in postgraduate and international master’s programmes in neuroscience and cognitive sciences. His research has led him to collaborate with leading institutions such as the University of Bordeaux, King’s College London, the University of California, Harvard University and the University of Illinois. He has authored more than 35 peer-reviewed publications in high-impact scientific journals.
Professor Ribeiro is a member of several scientific societies and part of the Psychobiology and Behavioural Neurobiology Research Group at the University of Murcia. His current work explores how a healthy brain functions — and how advanced neurostimulation technologies can optimise its performance.
Beyond academia, he has practised as a clinical psychologist in renowned medical centres, including Hospital Internacional Medimar (Alicante) and Hospital Virgen del Consuelo (Valencia), and frequently leads communication and emotional regulation training for healthcare professionals.
A firm believer in the restorative power of simple habits, he often says that “walking heals almost everything”. For him, movement, meditation and gratitude are the most elegant forms of cognitive renewal — small rituals that help the brain return to balance.
